This one started life as Martin Luther King's famous line in his speech calling for racial equality and an end to discrimination.  It evolved simply to 'Dream', evoking that other great dream – the American one.  Its not meant to be a noun.  We see it as a verb in its imperative form.  We were seized by power and hope of a beautiful concept as a command – every great thing that ever happened started out as a dream.  Let's not stop.
